Crane End Carriage

Crane end carriage (also known as crane end beam) serves as the travelling support assembly fitted on both ends of overhead bridge cranes and gantry cranes. It bears wheel groups, drive units and buffer devices and transfers full crane wheel pressure onto runway rails.
Good‑matched end‑carriage assemblies guarantee smooth travelling performance and reduce rail‑gnawing risk. Yangyumech supplies standard and custom‑built crane end carriage units for new crane manufacturing, as well as replacement spare parts for old‑crane retrofit projects.
‑ Applicable crane type: overhead bridge crane, gantry crane
‑ Working Class: A3, A4, A5, A6, A7
‑ Supply form: complete pre‑assembled unit or bare welded beam

Description

1. The crane end carriage is a key travelling structural component for overhead and gantry cranes. Two sets of end carriages are installed at two ends of main girders to support the full crane weight and lifting load.
2. End‑carriage frames adopt box‑type welded steel construction. Wheel groups, travelling drive units and buffer parts are mounted on the end beam to realize full‑crane longitudinal travelling along runway rails.
3. Different from simple welded beams, qualified end carriage takes wheel pressure, wheel‑base, rail matching and anti‑derail performance into full consideration during design. Improper matching will cause rail gnawing, abnormal wheel wear and unstable running.
4. Two common supply options are available: bare welded beam only, or fully pre‑assembled unit with wheels, reducers, motors and buffers, to satisfy OEM production and maintenance replacement needs.
5. Our end‑carriage products can be produced according to FEM and ISO standards, and can be matched with single‑girder, double‑girder overhead cranes and various gantry cranes. Widely used for factory workshops, outdoor stock‑yards and equipment renovation projects.

Features

1.  Main frame adopts Q235B or Q355B high‑strength steel plate. Key welds can accept UT non‑destructive testing upon request. Optimized box‑section structure ensures high torsion resistance under full‑load condition.
2. Travelling wheels use cast steel or optional forged steel material with hardened tread surface. Good wear resistance extends service life under frequent start‑stop travelling cycles.
3. Support three‑in‑one compact travelling reducer or separate motor‑reducer combination. Optional VFD variable‑frequency travelling drive reduces impact when starting and stopping, effectively lowering rail‑gnawing probability.
4. Multiple surface‑treatment options: standard indoor shot‑blasting Sa2.5 grade plus anti‑rust paint; enhanced paint scheme for open‑air yard; C5‑M heavy‑duty anti‑corrosion coating for coastal salt‑spray environment.
5. Complete safety accessories can be configured: rubber or hydraulic end buffer, travel limit switch, anti‑derail protection device, to avoid collision and derailment risk during crane operation.
6. Modular flange connection design. It is convenient for assembling with customer‑supplied main girders, easy for on‑site installation and later‑stage component replacement.
7. Accept non‑standard custom: adjust beam length, wheel‑base, wheel pressure and connection dimensions according to actual runway rail and retrofit site constraints. Support OEM manufacturing based on customer drawings.

FAQs About Choosing Crane End Carriage & End Beam

They describe the same crane travelling component. “End carriage” is more commonly used for overhead bridge cranes, and “end beam” is more frequently mentioned for gantry‑crane travelling assemblies.

Yes. For retrofit orders, do not only copy appearance size. We need actual rail type, wheel‑pressure and installation dimension data to avoid rail‑gnawing and unstable travelling problems.

Two supply modes are available. You can choose bare welded steel beam for self‑assembly, or complete pre‑assembled unit including wheels, drives and buffers to save your workshop assembly workload.

Cast‑steel wheel is standard option for general‑purpose working condition. For A6‑A7 heavy‑frequency continuous‑cycle scenario, forged steel wheel is recommended for better wear resistance and longer service life.

Yes, we accept OEM manufacturing based on customer drawings. Meanwhile our engineers will give practical manufacturability and safety suggestions.

Please provide matched crane rated capacity, working‑duty, runway rail specification, wheel‑pressure requirement, installation flange dimension and working‑environment condition (indoor / outdoor / coastal anti‑corrosion). If it is retrofit work, real‑site measured data will be helpful.
